The dictionary defines grief as deep sorrow or mental distress caused by loss. Expanding upon this definition is to define grief as an emotional, physical, and spiritual reaction to the loss (or perceived loss) of someone (or something) in whom (or which) one has been deeply and emotionally invested. Grief is what you think and feel on the inside after a loss occurs.
The dictionary defines “to mourn” is to grieve over; to lament; to wear mourning clothing; mourning is the act of grieving. So mourning is the outward expression of ones thoughts and feelings of grief after a loss has occurred.
